shop window

at his Santa image
--Billy Antonio, Laoac,
Philippines
VOTES 113*** SCORE 12
COMMENT 1: Christmas holidays are magical moments for some and a very sad time for many; I read stupor and loneliness in these verses
COMMENT 2: All the poems deserve a mention, but "shop window" has the true haiku spirit inside. Images clash. The silhouette of a homeless man and that of Santa Claus. The sizes of these two gentlemen's wallets are juxtaposed in the reader's head. Though probably their heart sizes are the same. This haiku is universal because it makes us aware of the mutual closeness of our human conditions, no matter who we are.
