Celebrating Fifty Kukai

The number fifty, represents, the Universe being expressed by the individual lives, according to R. Allendy: "it is a favorable number marking a grace, a kindness, a regeneration".
CKK pauses, at this juncture of our kukai (haiku contests), to recall with pride some of our first place winners, of 50 kukai, spanning 2009 - 2014.
Prompts are gives sometimes as kigo(season words) and sometimes as themes. Where kigo are given the word or phrase must be used and players are asked to use the prompt exactly as stated. When themes are given a more relaxed approach in writing could be used.

April breezes are right for kite flying in open spaces like the Queen Park Savannah here in Portof Spain, however most first time kite flyers were school yard flyers or back yard flyers, and here in Trinidad and Tobago, many an adult flyer, reminsces about the good ole days of the 'chookie chong' , which is a kite made from notebook paper with a tail also made from notebook paper, the simplest kind of kite to make, and the first kite children learned to fly...

We find ourselves many times in a situation of hype, the adrenalin flows we are caught up, we cheer, we applaud, we do a happy dance; or we swear, we curse, we kick stones; or whatever. When its all over we need to find our equilibrium point, we need to 'cool down' and this what Kukai #49 is about; regaining balance, cooling down, inhaling...
